How to specify restaurant furniture for a project in Mexico
Restaurant furniture must support an operating model, not just a visual concept. A table that looks right can still slow service, trap dirt at a joint, conflict with the selected chair, or require a finish-maintenance cycle the team cannot sustain. A useful specification therefore begins with operations and ends with criteria that can be checked.

Define the operating conditions first
Record service style, daily turns, target capacity, guest and staff circulation, cleaning intervals, indoor/outdoor exposure, fixed versus movable pieces, opening date, and the person authorized to approve changes. A high-turn restaurant and a private dining room should not receive the same assumptions about weight, repairability, or spare units.
Build a schedule for every furniture family
Give each family a code: two-top, four-top, communal table, stool, banquette, service station, host stand, or bar component. State quantity, dimensions, material, finish, hardware, room, and drawing reference. Treat changes in base, height, or finish as controlled variants.

Coordinate finish and cleaning
Provide the actual cleaning products and frequencies expected in operation. Test the proposed system on the final substrate and in a discreet area. Approve color and sheen with a physical sample, and define how touch-ups or repairs will be handled. “Commercial” and “sealed” are not measurable performance descriptions.

Prototype, control sample, and production lot
A prototype can validate comfort, stability, weight, chair clearance, hardware, and cleanability before a repeated design is released. Once corrections are closed, identify a control sample by code, revision, and approval date. Lot inspection should cover critical dimensions, finish range, operation, stability, and visible damage.
Plan delivery and installation in Mexico
Confirm truck access, elevators, floor protection, temporary storage, work windows, assembly, and punch-list responsibility. Distinguish manufacturing, freight, unloading, placement, installation, utility connections, and packaging removal.
