Parota is known for its striking grain patterns, which create one-of-a-kind parota wooden tables that demand attention in any room design.
The exotic parota wood comes from the guanacaste tree, which grows abundantly in tropical and humid climates of Mexico and Central America. The tree can rapidly reach heights of 65–100 feet (20–30m) and widths of 3–6.5 feet (1–2m). Parota’s fast-growing properties make it a more sustainable material than slow-growing wood, such as oak and cedar, and is not listed as a threatened species.
The large size of the parota tree means you can find parota slab tables up to several meters long, including a distinct creamy live edge for creating elegant, one-of-a-kind solid parota wood tables. Contact PAROTAS to enquire about custom designs or our wooden table collections.
Parota Wood Table Designs
Typically, parota wood has been used in rustic designs. However, at PAROTAS, we harmonize the striking features of parota wood and contemporary design. Here we show you some examples of modern parota wood tables.
Natural Solid Parota Dining Tables
Natural parota slab tables expose the grainy lines that are iconic to parota wood, plus the distinct live edge. As a relatively fast-growing tree, parota wood is typically lighter, almost half the dried weight of oak, making it ideal for large-size solid wood tables.
Solid wood tables using natural cuts expose parota’s live edge. The two-tone colouring comprises a golden-brown heartwood that is distinctly demarcated from the creamy sapwood. If available, natural cuts measuring up to 10–15 feet (3–5m) can be custom ordered.
Round Parota Wood Tables
Cross-sectional cuts of parota create round wooden tables that rely on the beauty of parota’s circular wood grain. Parota’s generally large width means contractors and designers can produce both small and large round wooden tables using single cuts from 1.5–6.5 feet (0.5–2m) in diameter, creating stunning one-of-a-kind round wooden tables with complete live edges.
Parota Table Bases with Glass or Resin
A glass dining table creates a lens to see the artistic sculptures made from sleek parota bases or sections of roots. A number of modern bases can be put on show under your glass dining table, including bases made from parota’s intricate root systems which can be custom-ordered.
Resin is another way to showcase the unique cut of your parota table, without changing the wood’s natural features. You can choose from several resin colors
